Crazy Egg has become an invaluable tool for analyzing user behavior and making informed design decisions. Users across various departments, including marketing, design, and front-end development, have relied on Crazy Egg to gather insights for high-level decisions on websites and landing pages. The platform's heatmapping capabilities provide quantitative data on user engagement, allowing teams to optimize pages and improve the overall user experience. Crazy Egg's unique confetti tool has been particularly praised for its ability to identify popular and unpopular items on websites, highlighting areas where users expect clickable elements. Additionally, Crazy Egg's integration with Google Analytics enables users to gain a more complete picture of user behavior, further enhancing their understanding of website performance. With its comprehensive insights into user interactions and intuitive visualizations, Crazy Egg has proven to be an indispensable resource for businesses seeking to enhance conversions and improve overall website effectiveness.

Valuable Click Mapping Feature: Many users have found Crazy Egg's click mapping feature to be highly valuable, allowing them to see exactly where visitors are clicking on their website. This information has helped them identify popular links and buttons, as well as areas of the page that were mistakenly believed to be clickable. The insights gained from this feature have enabled users to make informed decisions about their website's layout and design.

Helpful Scroll Mapping Feature: Users have praised Crazy Egg's scroll mapping feature for providing insights into how far users are scrolling down the page. This information has been helpful in understanding user behavior and making informed decisions about page layout and content placement. By using this feature, users have been able to optimize their websites and improve user engagement.

Powerful Segmentation Capabilities: Crazy Egg's segmentation capabilities have received high praise from many users. Being able to differentiate click patterns based on visitor properties such as technology, new or returning visitors, and other factors has allowed users to gain deeper insights into user behavior and tailor their websites accordingly. These powerful segmentation capabilities have helped optimize websites for different segments of the audience.

Confusing Interface: Some users have found the interface of Crazy Egg to be confusing, particularly when dealing with a large number of snapshots. They have expressed that it takes time to locate specific snapshots among those that are running or stopped.

Limited Heatmap Visualizations: The limited availability of heatmap visualizations in Crazy Egg has been seen as a drawback by users. They feel that having more options for visualizing data would enhance their understanding and analysis capabilities.

Lack of Detailed Reporting: Users have mentioned that the reporting in Crazy Egg is not detailed enough, leaving them without sufficient information to make well-informed decisions. They feel that there is a need for more comprehensive reports to better analyze user behavior and optimize their websites accordingly.

Users of Crazy Egg commonly recommend trying Crazy Egg for valuable insights, especially for e-commerce websites. It is worth giving a try, particularly for novice analysts or medium businesses with a UX team. Crazy Egg is recommended for CTRs, scroll depth, and session replays. Users suggest utilizing Crazy Egg's features and webinars to avoid making assumptions about user behavior and get the most out of the tool.

Users also recommend using Crazy Egg alongside other tools like Google Analytics to gain additional insights and have a more comprehensive understanding of website performance. It is seen as a great tool for heatmaps, recordings, A/B testing, and analyzing clicks using the confetti feature of the heatmap.

Furthermore, users advise signing up for the free trial of Crazy Egg to test its capabilities before making any purchasing decisions. They suggest setting it up for important pages first to maximize its value. For those who can afford it, opting for the full plan provides advantages. However, users caution against being cautious of annual pricing and notifying any changes to the account admin. It is important to be careful with renewals and unsubscribing if not satisfied. Even on a small budget, Crazy Egg is still recommended as a tool for simple heatmaps.

Overall, users find value in trying Crazy Egg, particularly for e-commerce websites. Using it alongside other tools can provide more insights, and taking advantage of the trial version and pricing options available is advised.

Crazy Egg has been a legacy tool that we've used, but I don't think we've used it to its fullest capabilities. With that said, we've used it to view heat maps of traffic (and we share those images in reports) and we've more recently used the session recording tool to observe users interact with our website in real-time.
  • Price is competitive
  • A/B testing
  • Session recording is not very reliable.
  • Hard to target some of the features, too broad.
If you're looking to pair this with other analytics tools and you're price sensitive, this tool might work for you. Unfortunately, for what we need, I'm not sure it's the right tool for us alone. The session recording feature, which I have personally been using more, is not really giving a good sense of what users are doing. Sometimes I'm watching sessions and I see nothing, just a blank screen. Alone, it's not enough to give me a good picture. The price is competitive, though, and I'm sure if we were pairing it with our A/B testing tools, this would be helpful.

We leveraged Crazy Egg to get a more in-depth idea of how customers were engaging with our site and identify what they were most interested in, beyond just clicks. The platform helped us map areas of interest including what areas of the page customers remained on the longest and what their mouse hovered over for the longest period of time.
  • Easy to use
  • Simple implementation
  • Reliable tracking
  • Overly simple for technical users.
  • Less advanced for enterprises.
  • Lack of integrations with other analytics tools.
If your company is newer to analytics and you are just starting to learn more about your customers and how they interact with your site, Crazy Egg is a great digital tool to get you started. It helps you learn more about what’s working on your site and what can be improved.

We wanted to see how our website was being used. Crazy Egg has a lot of features to discover how users are interacting with the elements on the webpage. The heatmap shows where the users are clicking the most. The Rage Click shows elements that are inactive but looks like elements that should be clickable. There is a survey option that is simple and easy to set up for direct feedback from the users. A/B testing is available to see which version is a better solution. Crazy Egg does a good job of revealing user interaction and is especially useful when you want to upgrade your website for a better user experience.
  • heat maps

  • page time loads
  • price
  • adding entire website to snapshots
Crazy Egg is good for gaining insights into where users are clicking and knowing the load time of your page. The WordPress plugin is really easy to use. Other websites will require adding some JavaScript Code. It is a little tedious if want to add all the pages on your website. You have a limited number of pages you can add before you have to upgrade to a higher package. Single Page Applications take more steps to track and create a snapshot.

We used Crazy Egg within our ecomm department to track click behavior of our customers. It helps us to learn where our customers are engaging the most, what content draws their attention the most, and it gives us insight into how much of the content users are actually seeing. We use this information to drive content placement, CTA placement, landing page length and more.
  • It provides a very visual representation of user behavior.
  • It makes it very clear what elements of your content are getting the most interaction.
  • It seems there could be a better, more efficient way to organize past snapshot data.
Crazy Egg can be very well suited to integrate your marketing and creative teams, to explore our layout and design affect your users behavior.

Crazy Egg is currently used by my organization to understand visitor interactivity with newly released landing pages. We combined this data with our analytics data to start telling a more wholesome story with data. We often time triangulate Crazy Egg, Google Analytics, and survey data to understand areas of improvement and guidance for A/B testing.
  • Easy implementation on site.
  • Easy to understand visual reporting.
  • Easy (and fast) set up.
  • Great UX and UI within the tool.
  • I wish there was more customer support to lean on for test ideas and how to use the tool to our advantage. I'm sure there is a ton of value we haven't unlocked yet.
  • Sometimes the test set up for different devices is a little clunky.
  • On our sites, we have a ton of pop-ups. Despite checking off the "omit pop-ups" on the test set up, we still capture the pop up on the page's image which can cover up a ton of retail space to analyze.
Crazy Egg is a great tool for those starting out with heatmap and clickmap tools. It has a user-friendly interface with extremely easy set up that can be implemented via Google Tag Manager instead of tapping into a developer resource. The visual reporting is easy to understand with the ability to filter by traffic source so that you can segment your analysis.

Crazy Egg is used exclusively by the marketing department! Myself, the paid media specialist, design team, and front-end developer all use the software frequently. Crazy Egg answers the question that all digital marketers ask.... how is my website being used by a real person? The heatmapping alone has led to radical changes to our website that has brought in large conversion rate changes on downloads, demos, and blog subscribers. It also provides a data-driven way to quantify the effects of a design change to the website or provides data to prove that a certain update should be made on the website. Crazy Egg is used often and provides the information we need to make high-level decisions on our website, landing pages, and more!
  • Heat mapping! Essential--you having a solid heat mapping software that shows where people are scrolling and what they are doing on your website is reason enough to get this software!
  • Oh, you want more reasons? Well, what about A/B page testing...
  • Still more? Okay, last one--recordings of actually sessions from visitors, so you can watch exactly what they are doing and see where they are getting hung up on your website or in some cases, things they are looking to click on that you didn't realize was important to end users!
  • Ahh, I honestly can't think of anything. All the features work as you expect. If I had to be super picky, the recording videos could use some deeper filter options.
Crazy Egg is perfect for all organizations that are looking to understand their website traffic more deeply (In particular though--I think Crazy Egg really helps the SMB area as the pricing is very affordable to other options out there). Crazy Egg is perfect for tracking how far users scroll down the page, what they click on, where they come from (seriously--you want to see if a Mac user clicks on more things on your website than a Microsoft user, you can 100% do that with Crazy Egg). You can see session recordings, and create website A/B tests. Basically, Crazy Egg is your one-stop shop for digital analytics and A/B page testing!

Crazy Egg was used throughout our departments. From developing ongoing user engagement strategy, to initial research and discovery for overall user experience, Crazy Egg is a platform that we would use with almost every client. It's a simple platform with a low cost that can actually provide huge value for a project. The number one thing Crazy Egg allows us to do is provide quantitative data for user engagement, which previously would require qualitative feedback.
  • Tracking page scroll, e.g. how far users are willing to scroll down the page.
  • Click tracking with visual heat mapping of results, identifying the most clicked on aspects of a site.
  • Mouse tracking, to determine which aspects users may be hovering over but not clicking, or aspects that users are having a hard time finding.
  • The free version only allows you track a limited number of pages.
  • Gathering statistical significance takes 30+ days, so to get actionable results you may have to run tracking software for multiple months.
  • The data doesn't always contain context. While the data is quantitative, sometimes you have to makes assumptions about user intent.
  • Does have the ability to slow down page load time, which is really only an issue if your site is already experiences page load speed issues.
Crazy Egg is a great product for basically any site. Obviously you'll want to tailor your use to match your site goals, and align with level of traffic. Crazy Egg really is transparent about what the platform can and cannot do. The only negative factor you may run into is a delay in page load time, resulting in milliseconds of additional load time.

The primary use of Crazy Egg is heat mapping so we can determine whether a design is effective. It is also used for placement of material, and finding areas to test. A good example is we recently launched a page with a very large hero image that was not actually a clickable element. We found numerous clicks on it, which indicated that visitors believed it to be a banner. We're now testing adding CTAs to that hero image. In other instances, we've been able to determine that certain content was simply seen by no one and we were able to scrap it, leading to quicker load times and more concentrated content. Even more important has been finding material below the fold that was being viewed frequently, which let us know which content was truly important.
  • Click Mapping - it is valuable to know where visitors are clicking and Crazy Egg does this.
  • Scroll Mapping - I think this may actually be even more valuable. There's often a bias toward very long pages and being able to clearly show how this is damaging the ability to have a visitor receive the message has really helped our designers reorient expectations.
  • Segmentation - In addition to mapping clicks, Crazy Egg does a good job of differentiating who has been clicking where based on technology, new/return visitors, and other visitor properties.
  • Single Page Applications - if you have a single page application, it's difficult to get the click mapping to work for anything beyond the first view of that page. You need to be able to add very specific code, which detracts from the otherwise easy use of the tool.
  • Exports - Exports take a really long time and are necessary as your ability to have teammates log in is extremely constrained by the pricing model.
  • Responsive Pages - I recognize this is a big ask, but I'd like to be able to see how things are clicked when the page is in a different configuration. It's not served in the same manner on a phone as on a desktop, so seeing the snapshot reflect that configuration and the appropriate clicks would be great.
I think Crazy Egg is a pretty good tool for static pages where there's little interactivity. You'll get a really good grasp at what's being looked at and clicked on, but unless you've got some dev resources, if you have a site that's heavy on single page applications, you're not going to get nearly as much value out of it.

Crazy Egg is an important tool for our PPC and SEO campaigns. We use it to engage in CRO opportunities and help clients get a better conversion rate out of their traffic. We use it in paid search for landing page development.
  • Shows hot spots of content
  • Adds extra value to client's campaigns
  • Provides data driven recommendations for CRO
  • The export of the snapshot link is time sensitive and not that easy to present to clients
  • I wish it could be integrated into other dashboards
  • The plans are kind of expensive
I find it best for content placement onsite, CRO campaigns, and landing page development. I use it more than any other CRO or heat mapping software. I am limited to only a certain amount of clients I can use it on and the snapshot constraints and plan make it not suitable for all my roster.

We use it to get Heat and scroll mapping analytics. It is being used to Demand Generation. It helps us assess how customers are interacting with our website pages.
  • Heat mapping
  • Scroll mapping
  • Mobile / Desktop comparisons
  • Easy set up
  • Storing older tests - You must download and store them.
  • Allow easier upgrading to allow for more Snapshots
Crazy Egg is great for smaller to medium size businesses to get heat map data on their websites. The price is very reasonable. It has an easy set-up. It will help them identify and correct website problem areas. Larger companies will need it for snapshots. Ask how many snapshots are needed for your size of company.

Crazy Egg is an awesome tool for heat-mapping, by far the best in the market. The confetti tool is something that I didn't find in other vendors. However, Crazy Egg should start implementing Session Replay also as heat-mapping and Session Replay go hand in hand. Otherwise the product is worth a rating of 5/5.
  • Heat-Mapping
  • Confetti Tool
  • Session replay
  • Filters
Crazy Egg is best for heat-mapping - especially with the use of confetti tools. I would like to see Crazy Egg implement session replay as well.

Our information architects and IA's who are employed by our clients use it, to analyze behavior and make page design decisions. Senior managers are another audience when we are trying to discuss or persuade.

Other TrustRadius reviews give excellent summaries of how it can be used as an analytics tool.
  • Shows where people click
  • For some reports, allows segmentation of visitors --- by browser, time of day, referrer, etc.
  • Shows how far down people scroll
  • Has numeric output (the List report) as well as a visual heat map
  • In our testing, it's become clear that CE doesn't capture all clicks. Not sure why some are missed. This may not be a huge problem since you really want to get a few thousand visits before doing any analysis, and since the missed clicks seem to be random, I think the end result will be perfectly all right.
  • I'd like to see just the visitor's FIRST click on a given page, as one of the alternative views.
  • Better and more detailed documentation on how the tracking actually works. There is some confusion about whether the screen coordinates of the click are tracked, or the element being clicked on. The former method seems to be used in the Heat and Confetti views and can get thrown off significantly by different screen aspect ratios and resolutions. The Overlay and List views seem to be based on the element being clicked on, and these views disregard clicks that don't happen in a hot area. A detailed explanation, with implications for different site technologies (responsive, tabs, other dynamic elements) would be really helpful for a minority of customers to whom this is critical.
  • Scroll map is nice but not really useful because it doesn't take into account where the fold is for the individual visitor. At least, I don't think it does (see previous comment about technical documentation). Great additions would be seeing the average fold line for all viewers, AND being able to segment like the Confetti View does. Also, it's not clear whether the scroll is measuring the middle point or the bottom of what's on their screen.
Crazy Egg is perfect for HTML pages with no tabs, expanding elements, or responsive implementation. It is questionable for anything else ... but better than nothing and worth the price.

At the media-buying start-up where I used to work, each of us was involved in optimization and performance analysis. For that reason, every member of the team became fluent in Crazy Egg -- it adds color and nuance to a click-based understanding of how users interacts with a website.
  • Visualize user experience
  • Track user engagement
  • Understand what features or designs are going "unseen"
  • Multiple account management (e.g. for pro-users with hundreds of sites)
In addition to Google Analytics and Omnigraffle, Crazy Egg is an absolutely necessary tool for anyone interested in user experience and conversion. It's heat-mapping tools provide a 10,000-foot perspective on what users engage with the most about a website. If a web-page has anywhere between two and two hundred buttons on it, this is a super-useful tool in tracking what users prioritize.

We're using Crazy Egg to create heat maps across our web domains. It is only being using in our department, across various teams, such as Product, Design, etc.
  • Easy to create heat maps
  • Reporting tool allows you to see different metrics
  • Offers segmentation of visitors
  • Users should be able to create custom segmentation
  • Improve the number of visitors to be in the heat map
How easy is it to implement? How quickly can I start using the product?

We use Crazy Egg to understand how people interact with on-page elements and content on our sites. It answers questions that other analytics tools can't, like which navigational elements are most used on a site, or what non-link elements users are clicking on. Provides an easy-to interpret heatmap that clients love, and offers good integration with Optimizely to visualize how design changes impact behavior.
  • Creates beautiful, easy-to-share heatmaps.
  • Easy setup with sensible defaults. Advanced targeting for power users.
  • Implementation checker makes it easy to verify that you have it set up correctly.
  • Scheduling lets you launch heatmaps immediately or at a later time.
  • Sorting and batch processing of multiple heatmaps can be difficult.
  • Doesn't show data for a few hours.
  • Advanced targeting can be confusing.
Crazy Egg is great as a heatmapping tool - If you want an affordable way to see click, scroll, and positioning data for real visitors on your website, Crazy Egg is a good option. It can't compare with tools like Google Analytics, but that's not how it is designed to be used.
